Dear EALgreen Board of Trustees,
Thank you for the generous gift that you gave me. I am honored to be the recipient of the EALgreen scholarship.
Acquiring this scholarship means a lot to me because college has been a great struggle. The disabilities that I was born with have proven to be a true obstacle for my college education. Ever since I was born I have had Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. It is a disease where my body cannot create collagen, the glue that holds my body together. Due to this disease, I have had multiple surgeries and other medical procedures. My organs are effected by this disease and I become easily fatigued. I have also dealt with dyslexia, which negatively effects my word comprehension, reading, and writing ability.
Although, these disabilities have been a significant hindrance to me, I have been able to overcome them through hard work. Throughout my high school years, I accomplished thirty-one credits of college (while going through multiple surgeries). There have been some days where I have spent eight hours working diligently on my homework. Also, there has been many who have called me an over achiever when it comes to my studies.
Once again, thank you very much for your generous gift of the EALgreen scholarship. It will be a great help to me when it comes to paying college expenses. I am very grateful to you for electing me for the purpose of receiving this scholarship, and I believe that I will put it to great use.
