EALgreen is a not for profit organization that turns excess and unwanted inventory into scholarships for financially disadvantaged college students. EALgreen has a corporate office located in Glen Ellyn, IL and manages its warehouse operations in Rockford, IL.

EALgreen is committed to leading the industry in minimizing the impact of its activities and carrying out its core business in a responsible manner. The company accepts a wide range of corporate inventory donations excluding perishable items, food, pharmaceuticals and hazardous waste products. In addition to the Warehouse Operations, EALgreen operates from an office located in Wheaton, IL. The organization promotes agile working as part of a virtual office strategy aimed at reducing the organization’s carbon impact.

EALgreen environmental objectives focus on continual improvement to relevant business factors. Factors include the colleges served, donor waste guidelines both short and long-term benefits, and potential liabilities.

Management System

EALgreen meets environmental performance requirements by identifying and controlling the impact of its business processes on the environment. To do this effectively, environmental performance is assessed within a structured management system.

Commitment to environmental protection is demonstrated by providing sufficient resources to implement an Environmental Management System (EMS).

Commitment to Continual Improvement

EALgreen is committed to continually improving the environment. Senior management has provided sufficient resources to ensure the continual improvement process is supported and year over year improvements are achieved.

This is accomplished by setting objectives and measurable targets. Objectives are accomplished by auditing operational processes, reporting of non-compliances and corrective actions.

Involvement and Communications

EALgreen aims to be an environmental leader in the donation recipient field. Providing support for corporate donors to reuse, repurpose and recycle products that might otherwise be sent to a landfill. The EMS is an integral part of the EALgreen business strategy of protecting the environment and meeting EALgreen’s core mission.

EALgreen actively promotes collaboration and aims to provide relevant donors and resellers throughout the organizational business processes.

This is done by:

  • Providing support and guidelines to its team
  • Working closely with “warehouse subcontract management”
  • Providing formal processes and guidelines for warehouse operations
  • Communicating environmental performance with interested parties
  • Integrate the consideration of environmental concerns and impacts into all of our decision making and activities
  • Promote environmental awareness among our employees, volunteers, contractors and encourage them to work in an environmentally responsible manner
  • Train, educate and inform our employees and contractors about environmental issues that may affect their work,
  • Reduce waste through re-use and recycling and by purchasing recycled, recyclable or re-furbished products and materials where these alternatives are available, economical and suitable,
  • Promote efficient use of materials and resources throughout our facility including water, electricity, raw materials and other resources, particularly those that are non-renewable,
  • Avoid unnecessary use of hazardous materials and products, seek substitutions when feasible, and take all reasonable steps to protect human health and the environment when such materials must be used, stored and disposed of,
  • Purchase and use environmentally responsible products accordingly,
  • Where required by legislation or where significant health, safety or environmental hazards exist, develop and maintain appropriate emergency and spill response programs
  • Communicate our environmental commitment to Donors, Students, College and University partners and the public and encourage them to support it,

EALgreen carries out annual reviews of its Environmental Policy, and will review and update its policy based on current and planned future activities, legislation, and donation company requirements.

Monitoring Aspects and Impacts

EALgreen reviews all of its activities and investigates potential non-compliance impacts in support meeting its own the environmental goals and objectives.
